Eduardo Sobarzo-Sánchez, born in Santiago (Chile), and graduated as Bachelor in Science mention Chemistry from University of Chile (UCH, 1996), obtained his Ph.D. in chemistry from UCH in 2003 under the supervision of Prof. Bruce Cassels N. During the completion of his doctoral thesis, he did a predoctoral stay at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC, Spain, 2001) in the research group of Prof. Luis Castedo E.

Upon completing his doctoral thesis, he moved to the Department of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, USC, to carry out a postdoctoral stay, as a fellow of the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores-Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional (MAE-AECI), under the supervision of Profs. Luis Castedo E. and Concepción González-Bello (2003-2005). Later, he continued his research work at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, USC, as a fellow of the Xunta de Galicia (Government of Galicia, 2005-2006), as a researcher under the "Juan de la Cierva" program of the Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (2006-2008), and as a professor-researcher at the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, USC, under the "Isidro Parga Pondal" program of the Xunta de Galicia (2009-2014). From 2014 to 2016, he was a research assistant professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, USC, in the research group of Prof. Eugenio Uriarte V. In mid-2016, he returned to Chile as Full Professor (Profesor Titular Regular) at the Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud, Universidad Central de Chile.

He currently works as a national and international reviewer of projects FONCYT (Argentina), FONDECYT (Chile) and Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva-ANEP (Spain), and he is member of the Editorial Board of the following journals: Molecules, International Journal of Nanomedicine, Journal of Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology, Frontiers in Pharmacology, Archives of Natural Biological Research, Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, Current Medicinal Chemistry, Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity and Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry. He leads the QMEDBIN research group subscribed to the Instituto de Investigación y Postgrado, Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud at the Universidad Central de Chile. His research is based on the field of natural products with pharmaceutical applications (neurodegenerative, behavioral and parasitic diseases), including the formation and therapeutic use of nanostructured systems for the transport and controlled release of drugs.
